Catch small problems while they’re still small

Most of what goes wrong in a mouth starts in silence. A cavity between two molars, gums that bleed a little more each month, a crack you can’t feel yet. Twice-a-year visits with a Portland general dentist catch those things while the fix is still a filling, not a crown or an extraction.

At Life Bloom Dental, Dr. Cho sees you for those visits himself. If something bigger turns up, he handles that too, in the same chair.

What everyday care covers here

A Life Bloom Dental hygienist cleaning a patient’s teeth
  • Exams and Cleanings

Every 6 months, or more often if your gums need it. The hygienist uses an air polisher alongside traditional tools, and Dr. Cho reviews your x-rays with you on the screen.

  • Fillings

Composite fillings shaded to your tooth. If you have old silver ones, we can replace them so nobody sees them when you laugh.

  • Sealants

A quick coating brushed into the grooves of molars, where toothbrushes miss. Mostly for kids, but adults with deep grooves get them too.

  • Gum Disease Treatment

Bleeding gums are the early sign. We treat it with scaling, air polishing, or the laser when it’s gentler, then set a maintenance schedule so it doesn’t come back.

  • Mouthguards

A nightguard if you wake up with a sore jaw or worn edges. A sports guard if your weekends involve contact. Both made from a scan of your teeth.

  • Family and Children’s Dentistry

Kids and parents are seen in the same office, often back-to-back. Cleanings, sealants, and checkups for the whole family in one trip.

  • Special Needs Dentistry

For patients with physical, developmental, or sensory needs, each visit is planned around what works for them.

  • Emergency Dentistry

A broken tooth, a lost filling, pain that won’t settle. Call, and we’ll get you in the same day whenever the schedule allows.

How a checkup goes

  1. Pictures first

Digital x-rays and, when it’s useful, a 3D scan. No impression trays. Dr. Cho puts the images on the screen and walks you through what he sees.

  2. The cleaning

The hygienist works with an air polisher alongside traditional tools and slows down when you need it. If you’d rather split the exam and cleaning into two visits, that’s fine.

  3. The plan

Before you leave, you know what was found, what’s recommended, why, and what it costs. If there’s more than one way to handle something, you hear about both.

Why Portland families choose Life Bloom Dental

  • One dentist for routine and surgical care

Dr. Cho earned his DMD at OHSU and takes more than 100 hours of continuing education a year. A cleaning, an implant, or a wisdom tooth all happen here.

  • Comfort built into the visit

Headphones, a weighted blanket, a massage mat in the chair, a TV on the ceiling. Nitrous is easy to add to a routine cleaning.

  • Spanish or English

Our assistants speak Spanish, so you can be helped in whichever language you’re more comfortable in.

Paying for your care

  • A patient checking in with the front desk team

    With insurance

We’re in-network with a number of dental plans. The front desk checks your benefits before you commit to anything.

  • Dr. Cho talking with a patient in the treatment chair

    No insurance?

The Life Bloom Dental Membership Club covers cleanings, exams, and x-rays for a flat monthly fee and discounts other treatment. Cash, check, and card all work.

Questions people ask about general dentistry in Portland

How often should I see a Portland general dentist?

Every six months for most people. If you’ve had gum disease, Dr. Cho may recommend cleanings every three or four months instead. We’ll set the interval with you at your first visit.

I haven’t been in years. Will I get a lecture?

No. Tell us how long it’s been when you book, and we’ll plan a first visit around what you’re ready for instead of trying to fix everything at once.

Do you take new patients for general dentistry in Portland?

Yes. Book online or call, and we’ll send your forms ahead so the first visit starts in the chair, not the lobby.

What if my checkup turns up something serious?

Dr. Cho handles root canals, extractions, and implants in-house, with sedation if you want it. You won’t be sent across town for the follow-up.

Really lovely first appointment after not seeing a dentist for a few years due to insurance. Very kind staff, no judgment, and made me feel comfortable through the whole cleaning /x-ray process. Highly recommend!

I came to Life Bloom Dental for an implant consultation. The staff and doctor are very nice and friendly. They explained things clearly. They listened to my questions patiently and answered all of them. They showed me the x-ray images and explained details of my tooth issue and the procedures they would take. Very good experience.

Life Bloom Dental is truly the best! I always feel like my dental health is in great hands, and the team consistently makes me feel so appreciated. When I got engaged, they even surprised me with a bottle of wine — such a thoughtful touch! Not only do they provide excellent dental care, but their staff is incredibly kind and caring.
