New to Life Bloom Dental?

Here’s exactly how the first visit goes

4.9 across 770+ Google reviews
  1. Before you arrive

Book online in about a minute, or call and the front desk will find you a time. Either way, we’ll confirm and email your new patient paperwork so you can fill it out at home instead of in the lobby.

And if you’re nervous or it’s been a while since your last dental visit, let us know when you book. We’ll keep that in mind and make sure your first visit feels comfortable and unrushed.

  2. When you walk in

Before anything clinical happens, you pick what you want from the comfort menu:

    • Headphones with your music
    • A weighted blanket
    • A massage mat in the chair
    • A TV on the ceiling
    • A short conversation about what you’re worried about, if that helps more than any of the above
  3. The exam

We take digital x-rays and, when it’s useful, a 3D scan of your mouth. No trays of impression goop. Dr. Cho examines your teeth and gums, then puts the images up on the screen and walks you through what he sees.

  4. Your cleaning

If you’re ready for a cleaning the same day, we’ll do it. If you’d rather split things up, that works too. We use an air polisher alongside traditional tools and a laser when it’s the gentler option for your gums.

  5. The plan

Before you leave, you’ll know what we found, what we recommend, why, and what it costs. If there’s more than one way to handle something, you’ll hear about both. You’ll never be pressured into a decision at the front desk.

Some people want everything handled in a few visits. Some want to spread things out over a year. Both are fine. Dr. Cho’s job is to get you where you want to be.

If you’re already dreading it

You don’t have to power through. Dr. Cho offers nitrous, oral sedation, and full IV sedation in-house, one of the few general dental practices on Portland’s west side to do so. Nitrous is easy to add to a routine cleaning. For anything bigger, book a short consult first, and we’ll match the sedation to the procedure.

Paying for care

  • With insurance

We’re in-network with a number of dental plans, including Aetna, Assurant, Cigna, Delta Dental Premier, and Principal. The front desk checks your benefits before you commit to anything, so the estimate you see is the one you’ll pay.

  • No insurance?

The Life Bloom Dental Membership Club covers your routine care for a flat monthly cost, with plans for adults, kids, and patients in periodontal maintenance. Members also save on treatment. There’s no waiting period and no annual maximum to work around.

  • For larger treatments

Implants and surgery are an investment. Cherry Finance lets you spread payments over months instead of paying up front. Cash, check, and card all work too.

A few things families ask

Can I bring my kids?

Yes. Cleanings, checkups, and treatment for kids happen in the same office, so you can book everyone together. Sealants and sports mouthguards are available too.

Do you speak Spanish?

Sí. All three of our assistants speak Spanish, and we can help you in whichever language you’re most comfortable in.

I’m in pain right now. Can I come in as a new patient?

Call (503) 646-4600 and describe what’s happening. We keep room in the schedule for same-day problems and take new emergency patients case by case.

What if I need a specialist?

You probably won’t. Dr. Cho places implants, removes wisdom teeth, and handles complex extractions here, with sedation, so most patients never need a referral. If someone else really is the better fit, he’ll tell you.

Recommended by the people we care for

Really lovely first appointment after not seeing a dentist for a few years due to insurance. Very kind staff, no judgment, and made me feel comfortable through the whole cleaning /x-ray process. Highly recommend!

I came to Life Bloom Dental for an implant consultation. The staff and doctor are very nice and friendly. They explained things clearly. They listened to my questions patiently and answered all of them. They showed me the x-ray images and explained details of my tooth issue and the procedures they would take. Very good experience.

Life Bloom Dental is truly the best! I always feel like my dental health is in great hands, and the team consistently makes me feel so appreciated. When I got engaged, they even surprised me with a bottle of wine — such a thoughtful touch! Not only do they provide excellent dental care, but their staff is incredibly kind and caring.
