Sometimes removing a tooth is the right next step
Dr. Cho will always look at whether a tooth can be saved first. But if a tooth is badly cracked, too damaged to restore, or causing problems for the teeth around it, removing it may be the healthiest option.
Dr. Cho handles everything from Portland tooth extractions to wisdom teeth and more complex surgical cases right here at Life Bloom Dental. Sedation is available when you need it, and if the tooth needs to be replaced, we can talk through your options too.

What you get when it’s done here
Nitrous, oral, or IV sedation, matched to the extraction and to you
Wisdom teeth removed here, not at a separate surgical center
Socket preservation at the same visit if an implant is in your future
A dentist who handles the extraction and the replacement, so nothing falls between two offices
How it goes
-
The look
A digital x-ray or 3D scan shows the roots, the nerve, and how the tooth sits. That’s how Dr. Cho decides whether it’s a simple extraction or a surgical one, and which sedation makes sense.
-
The extraction
Local anesthetic numbs the area fully. Sedation keeps you relaxed. A simple extraction takes minutes. A surgical one, like an impacted wisdom tooth, takes longer and may involve removing the tooth in sections.
-
Aftercare
You leave with gauze, written instructions, and a follow-up on the calendar. Most patients are back to normal eating within a few days.
Why Portland patients choose Life Bloom Dental for extractions
-
Surgical training, every year
Dr. Cho earned his DMD at OHSU and spends more than 100 hours a year in continuing education, most of it in surgery and sedation.
-
IV sedation in the building
One of the few general practices on Portland’s west side offering IV sedation for the patient who can’t face an extraction awake.
-
The next step is already here
If the tooth is being replaced, the implant is placed and restored in the same office, often with bone preserved at the extraction visit.
Paying for your tooth extraction
-

With insurance
Most dental plans cover extractions. We’re in-network with a number of them and check your benefits before scheduling.

No insurance?
Members of the Life Bloom Dental Membership Club get a discount on treatment. Cherry Finance spreads larger costs, like wisdom teeth or an extraction plus implant, over monthly payments. Cash, check, and card all work.
Questions people ask about tooth extraction in Portland
Does a tooth extraction hurt?
Not during. The area is fully numbed, and sedation handles the anxiety. You’ll feel pressure, not pain. Afterward, most patients manage with over-the-counter pain relief for a few days.
Do you remove wisdom teeth in Portland?
Yes, including impacted ones. Dr. Cho does wisdom tooth extractions here with oral or IV sedation, so you don’t need a referral to an oral surgeon.
How long does a Portland tooth extraction take?
A simple extraction takes about 20 to 40 minutes, including numbing. Surgical extractions and wisdom teeth take longer, and we’ll tell you the plan before you commit.
What should I do about the gap?
That depends on the tooth. For a back molar, an implant keeps the bone in place and lets you chew normally. For a wisdom tooth, nothing. Dr. Cho explains the options at the consult.
