What are some common cosmetic dentistry options?

The most common procedures are teeth whitening, dental veneers, and dental bonding. Below you will find some more information that explains these options in more detail.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening, or bleaching, is one of the simplest, fastest, and least expensive ways to improve your smile. This process involves placing a bleaching gel on your teeth for 20 minutes up to several hours, which brightens up your smile after several applications. The most effective options are from your dental office which includes in-office whitening or various take home products. There are also over the counter whitening gels that are also effective as well.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are custom made, thin shells of tooth colored porcelain that covers the front surface of a tooth. Sometimes a very thin layer of enamel is removed from the surface, however there are “prepless veneers” that do not remove any enamel. The entire process takes a couple weeks with temporary veneers placed if necessary. This short process very quickly changes your smile to give you that ideal smile you’ve always wanted.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding uses a very similar material to traditional white fillings to bond a resin material to the front of teeth. This changes the color, shape, size of any tooth and can even close gaps between teeth. Dental bonding is done in a single visit that usually takes up to 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the number of teeth that need bonding.
